The Esbart l'Estel dance group was founded in 1978 at the Casal Parroquial de Crist Rei, with the aim of promoting and popularising the wealth of traditional Catalan dances, especially amongst young people.

The esbart's members, who are aged between 5 and 25, normally take part in the festa major, the main local festival, and the Festes de Primavera de la Sagrera festivals. They have danced at gatherings in Montserrat, Lleida and Vilafranca, as well as in dance group meets at Montbau, Roquetes, Trinitat Nova and Congrés. They have also performed dances in Argentona, Llinars del Vallès and Badalona, amongst others, and in events held in old folks' homes and clubs.

To celebrate the association's most important anniversaries, it organised four dance group meets, in 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003. All four involved ten invited esbarts, and took place in the Plaça dels Jardins d’Elx, where they are based.
