Description

The Vallcarca neighbourhood is set in a valley between two hills, Turó del Putget and Turó del Coll. In the past it belonged to the town of Horta and only consisted of a few farmhouses and some feudal manors that have now disappeared. It was very isolated until a viaduct got rid of the difference in level and a road crossing the valley was opened up. Els Penitents is further north and split by the Ronda de Dalt ring road.

The four-day festa major lasts a whole weekend and ends with the 11 September national day celebrations. The various activities are held in the most emblematic streets and squares of the old town centre, such as the Plaça de la Farigola. There are lots of different activities: communal meals, gimcanes (a kind of treasure hunt), festival dances, concerts, sports events and kids' festivals.
