Festa major de la Bordeta

Dates de celebració

First fortnight in September in the Bordeta neighbourhood, Sants-Montjuïc district

The Bordeta neighbourhood grew up around the old road that joined the village of Sants with Sant Boi de Llobregat in the 19th century. Like many other neighbourhoods in the Sants-Montjuïc district, industries moved in and housing for the people that worked there proliferated. The Sant Medir parish church, built in 1949, has always been a magnet for the social and cultural life of the neighbourhood.

Bordeta's festa major, its main festival, is, in fact, the party of one street and two squares: Carrer dels Jocs Florals de Baix and the squares of Fènix and Súria. These three centres each organise their own events, and on the last day of the festival they hold a joint event in Plaça de Celestina Vigneaux, where popular culture combines with food tasting and dances from all over. When it comes to the traditional cultural activities, each location arranges its own havanera singing event, or fire-related activity.

About festivities

Highlights

Joint event. The joint event held in Plaça de Celestina Vigneaux starts with hot chocolate for everyone in the xocolatada, which is followed by the dance of the gegants, the enormous festival figures, from Sants. After this begins the festival "La Bordeta en dansa", which is an exhibition of dances from all over by the Esbart Ciutat Comtal dance group. Finally, when it gets dark, the Diables de Sants devils' group perform a fire show.
