Description

The Canyelles neighbourhood was built in 1974 and is the last housing estate built in the Franco period. In the early years it lacked many services and facilities but the start of the 1990s saw a big improvement and things have gradually got better up to the present day. That was made possible by opening up new communication networks, such as the ring roads, along with the arrival of the metro and bus services.

The neighbourhood has a good network of associations that work in a number of areas throughout the year and come together to organise the festa major in the first week of October. The festival programme includes talks, films, sports tournaments, concerts, dances and big communal meals, plus children's workshops and entertainment.
