The book
The Survey Barcelona photography project is compiled in a two-volume book on sale at the usual bookshops and at Sala Ciutat.
Out of the project‘s total of six hundred pictures, Volume 1, “Mirades” [Perspectives], offers a selection of the most representative photographs by the ten photographers who, based on ten themed criteria, have illustrated the changes Barcelona has undergone in recent years and have created a set of images that provide a collective perspective on the city‘s evolution. The texts in the first volume are by Adrià Goula, who is an architect, photographer and the coordinator of the project, and Valentín Roma, director of the Virreina Centre Imatge.
Volume 2, “Projectes” [Projects], offers a view of the central, large-scale projects carried out in the city, including the superblocks, the main thoroughfares, the increase in green areas, the play-friendly city, schools, neighbourhood improvements, the revitalisation of the economic sector, sustainable mobility, facilities and housing. The text is by Xavier Matilla Ayala, chief architect for Barcelona City Council. Through data sheets, this volume describes all the projects that have been carried out and includes a transcription of a conversation with Eva Franch, Margarita Jover, Carme Pinós and Janet Sanz about the current challenges facing the city of Barcelona and how urban reform should be approached.
