Cities have a key role to play in achieving decarbonisation targets and reducing carbon emissions by 2030 and 2050. The progressive elimination of private vehicles in urban centres is a challenge that must be faced in order to achieve those targets. Measures such as expanding pedestrian areas and green areas, superblocks and the city’s decarbonisation are essential for the recovery of public spaces and transforming Barcelona into a healthier, biodiverse, friendly and efficient city.
