Barcelona has been a benchmark for economic and cultural development in Latin America, and a hub connecting that region with Europe. The city is a leader in various key sectors for the Latin American economy, such as culture, education, entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, urban transformation and markets. This leadership in relation to Latin America has materialised in various areas, such as the creation of Masters courses in universities and business schools regarding the connection between Barcelona and Latin America, fluid connections with the publishing world, the transfer of high tech, urban transformation and the development of innovation districts, among many others.

Furthermore, Barcelona is the headquarters of various multilateral bodies and city networks that are very influential in Latin America, something which also improves opportunities for finding new economic development dynamics on both sides of the ocean. Within this framework, the session will be dealing with initiatives, projects, challenges and perspectives of sustainable and digital economic development in relation to Latin America and also to Barcelona’s post-pandemic economic revival.
