"Towards a playable city for everyone" comes to La Model
The exhibitions hall at La Model, in the Eixample district, will be the host venue, as of Wednesday, 25 January, for the exhibition entitled "Towards a playable city for everyone", which explains what Barcelona has been doing to incorporate games into the city while making them accessible to everyone. This is the exhibition’s latest stop, having travelled to several districts over the last few months. La Model can be visited for free until 24 February.
Boasting several elements inviting visitors to play, the exhibition is divided into four parts: an account of the advances being made towards a playable city; the City Council’s strategy for creating play areas for everyone; the accessibility criteria that need to be followed for making them, and a presentation of the results of the competition for ten totally accessible play areas launched a few months ago by the City Council.
Created by Barcelona City Council, in collaboration with the Catalan Architects’ Association (COAC) and the Municipal Institute for Children and Teenagers and backed by the Municipal Institute for People with Disabilities, the exhibition premièred this October at the COAC itself. The last few months have seen the exhibition travelling to other places as well, including Ca l’Alier (Sant Martí district) and the Biblioteca Sant Gervasi – Joan Maragall (Sarrià – Sant Gervasi district), and it is now coming to the latest stop on its itinerary: the La Model former prison.
