Frederic Marès collected some 4,500 photographs, including the earliest daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, ferrotypes orvisiting cards, as well as cameras and other photographic apparatus dating from 1840 - 1920.

The exhibition displays a representative selection. There is a dark room for the visitor to enter, stereoscopic photographs to view, and albums of photos to leaf through, and thus contemplate an evocative portrait of the past.
