Barcelona #desdecasa [Barcelona #fromhome] is one of the photography projects that can be viewed from the month of May on the online gallery Imatges Barcelona [Barcelona Images]. It comprises the new collection of city photographs that Barcelona City Council is opening to the public, an archive where you can see, share and download more than 4,000 geolocated images of the city, sorted by topic.
Barceloneta beach, the Rambla or the Church of Sagrada Família – places we usually see teeming with tourists – are empty. The ring roads and the access points to Barcelona along the Diagonal and the Meridiana avenues are devoid of cars. Neighbourhood squares and streets are deserted. This is what a team of photographers made up of Edu Bayer, Laura Guerrero and Isaac Planellas discovered. These photojournalists walked around Barcelona on lockdown and collected unprecedented images of the city with no people, just the presence of frontline workers. Here is a selection of the more than seven hundred photographs brought together under the title Barcelona #desdecasa [Barcelona #fromhome]. It bears testimony to the exceptional time and situation that the people of Barcelona have experienced during the lockdown.
