How to access Montjuïc on FC Barcelona’s match days?
FC Barcelona are playing their home matches in the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium this year, meaning some changes to mobility around the Parc de Montjuïc. People are advised to access Montjuïc on foot, on public transport or by bicycle.
On foot to watch an FC Barcelona match at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium
You can Access the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on foot from Plaça d’Espanya, along C/ Foc or from Av Miramar, if you go up on the funicular. The escalators will be operating reversibly: upwards, for reaching the stadium, and downwards, once the match has ended, for leaving Montjuïc mountain.
On public transport
- Free shuttle-bus service up to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. Setting off from Plaça d’Espanya and from the Fira 2 car park, located next to the pavilions at the Fira de Barcelona complex in Gran Via. The service will begin two hours before the start of the match and finish one and a half hours after it ends, with departures every 3 or 4 minutes.
- Urban bus lines arriving up to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium area: 13, 55, 150, 23 and 125.
- Montjuïc Funicular. Extra services beginning two hours before the start of a match and finishing an hour after it ends.
- Metro. The nearest metro stations to Parc de Montjuïc are Espanya (L1, L3, L8 and other FGC railway lines), Poble-sec (L3), Paral·lel (L2 and L3), Foc (L10 Sud), Foneria (L10 Sud) and Magòria – La Campana (L8 and other FGC railway lines).
By bicycle
There are routes for getting to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium by bicycle. A new bike lane section will come into service in September between Plaça d’Espanya and Avinguda de Miramar. Eight new Bicing stations and lock-ups for bicycles and electric scooters are to be installed in 2024.
By motorbike
A parking area with 3,500 places for motorbikes and mopeds will be in service on match days in Carr del Doctor Font i Quer and Passeig del Migdia.
By car
Access by car up to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium will be restricted three hours before a match starts. Restricted traffic areas around the stadium will be established on match days affecting the stadium’s main access routes, such as Avinguda de l’Estadi and Passeig Olímpic. No crossing from one side of the mountain to the other will be allowed during matches. The recommendation is to avoid travelling to the stadium by car.
