Live music, popular culture, gastronomy and much more at Barcelona International Community Day

The city’s annual gathering of international talent is also an occasion to have fun, learn, and discover Barcelona. On offer there will be a standing display of giants and a batucada session, as well as a cookery workshop and live coverage of the America's Cup.

The entertainment will take place at the Maritime Museum on 28 September! Barcelona International Community Day reaches its eleventh edition with a full programme of activities to help members of the international community with their personal landing, professional development and networking. Fun and leisure are also very much part of the occasion, with concerts, workshops, shows, children’s activities, guided tours and much more.

World music performed live

The event opens at 10 am and will be welcoming visitors with a batucada, a drumming session of Afro-Brazilian origin which has become firmly rooted in Catalan culture, with a concert by La Traka (from the Gràcia neighbourhood). This will not be the only performance of the day, with the garden at the Maritime Museum also hosting an original pop, jazz and swing concert with the support of The Old Irish Pub: a musical journey around iconic cities of the world through songs that have become global classics.

In the afternoon there’s a chance to enjoy a concert with Philippine music, thanks to the Coro Kudyapi, a 50-strong choir of singers from Barcelona’s Philippine community. And, naturally, the day will round off with music again this year, with a DJ session in the Agora section of the exhibition space and a closing concert in the garden.

A taste of Catalan tradition and gastronomy

Traditional culture will also feature prominently in the event. The highlight will be a standing display of giants from the Colla de Geganters i Grallers de Poble-sec, marking 600 years of this tradition, so strongly rooted in Barcelona and Catalonia.

Catalan cuisine will feature too, of course. Delicious English will be organising a cookery workshop to show participants how to make Catalan flatbreads and flat cakes, explaining the origins and variations of this popular dish. And there will be an olive oil tasting session thanks to the Godall agricultural oil cooperative: a whole sensory experience to discover the secret of this basic ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine.

Discover Barcelona

Barcelona International Community Day is a great opportunity to get to know the city better. A wide range of activities are in store to help people do this: from a quiz about Barcelona to put participants’ knowledge to the test, thanks to the Centre de Normalització Lingüística de Barcelona, to a session exploring the city’s cultural and leisure agenda for families, organised by Mammaproof.

Let’s not forget either that the event is being held in the iconic, historical setting of the Maritime Museum. This is a great occasion to get an in-depth look at the place, enjoying a guided tour of the Drassanes Reials (Royal Shipyards) and the museum. It is also an opportunity to discover the treasures to visit just 15 minutes from the city, such as beaches, monuments, walking routes and natural parks, with the Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium.

America’s Cup live

The 37th America’s Cup is the true protagonist of 2024 in Barcelona. Because of this, Barcelona International Community Day will feature an America’s Cup Space with a giant screen offering live coverage of the regatta on 28 September, along with information on the sailing competition.

The activities on offer don’t end here: there’s a chance to learn Japanese calligraphy, take part in a linguistic aperitif to practise Catalan, record something with the 360-degree video booth, enjoy children’s activities in the play library and more. Learning, fun and connection are guaranteed at Barcelona International Community Day!

Access to all activities is free with advance registration for the event.
