The Maritime Museum will host Barcelona International Community Day yet another year. Promoted by Barcelona City Council, the gathering is a landing and reception point for international talent who have just arrived in the city, where they can find information, entertainment, networking, business opportunities and much more.

Barcelona International Community Day is also open to anyone who wants to connect with this talented group of people. It is an event that promotes relations between locals and internationals, thus contributing to their integration and the development of a sense of belonging in their new home.

The new features in this eleventh edition include a date change compared to previous editions, given that this year it has been moved up to Saturday, 28 September. It also has an updated image, now more in line with Barcelona International Welcome, the City Council’s service that works to welcome and integrate international talent into the city all year round.

The previous edition welcomed more than 5,000 registered people and visitors with 123 different nationalities. This year’s event will again offer activities, workshops and talks, along with a fair for exhibiting companies and organisations featuring services, products and initiatives for the international community. The venue will be open from 10 am to 7 pm.

Admission is free by registering in advance using this link.

More than 60 activities for all audiences

The various activities planned, mostly in English, include information and practical talks, workshops, networking activities, musical and other performances, children’s activities and more. All of them revolve around the main topics of personal arrival and landing, working and doing business, enjoying the city and making contacts.

Activities to learn Catalan, build new relationships, learn more about the city and further explore topics of interest such the healthcare system, housing and family life will also be offered. There will also be professional sessions targeted at finding a job, creating a company or attracting international talent, among other topics.

But the entertainment and fun activities are the main events. Attendees can enjoy a live display of Giants, organised in honour of the celebration of 600 years of this activity. The event will also have a space devoted to the 37th America’s Cup, designed to share the competition with citizens.

As always, the event’s host ambassadors will also be present. They are six Barcelona-based professionals who will be sharing their experiences in the city to inspire the other attendees. They are just six of nearly 90 speakers and experts of various nationalities taking part in the programme of activities.

Services, products and initiatives for international talent

Yet another year, Barcelona International Community Day will have an exhibitors’ fair, which this time will feature more than 80 participating companies. They will include businesses and public organisations, associations, social clubs and non-profit organisations, as well as international schools. Some 24% of these companies and organisations will be taking part in the event for the first time.

Distributed around more than 75 stands, they will be offering information, resources and services specialised for foreign professionals who have just arrived in Barcelona. There will be exhibitors from a diverse range of sectors: real estate, relocation services, talent management, legal and financial advice, education and training, insurance, medical services and more.

The business ecosystem, committed to international talent

The celebration of Barcelona International Community Day would not be possible without public-private collaboration. Yet another year, the event’s premium sponsor is Banc Sabadell, and ERES Relocation and Entre Trámites are the main sponsors.

The brand sponsors include the Barcelona International Schools Association (BISA), Maremagnum Shopping Center, the HLA Hospital Group and ArticketBCN, while the activity sponsors will be The Old Irish Pub and the childcare service company The Nanny Line.

In addition, La Vanguardia is back again this year as a media partner, along with other media collaborators.

A diverse, enriching community

The international community now accounts for more than 25% of Barcelona’s population. One out of every four residents is a foreigner, which fuels Barcelona’s diverse, intercultural spirit. These new arrivals make a positive contribution to the city in many ways: they create wealth with their talent, work, investments, companies, professional projects and other economic or commercial activities.

They also help to improve Barcelona’s competitiveness and productivity by contributing new ideas, techniques and innovations. They also act as the city’s ambassadors in their home countries, contributing to the arrival of new investors, entrepreneurs and professionals and helping them land softly.

Welcoming and integrating them is essential and a priority for positioning Barcelona as an open, diverse and cosmopolitan city in the world.
