Journey to Grandma’s shop in the Sants neighbourhood

Come along on this tour to discover one of Barcelona’s most iconic neighbourhoods through some of its historic shops.

The Sants neighbourhood was originally a small town next to Barcelona. In the 19th century it became an industrial neighbourhood, known for its activism, confrontations with employers and its working-class pride.

The tour will take us right back to the Roaring Twenties, and we’ll be joined by some characters who will help us discover the history of this neighbourhood and its social development

We’ll go into some of the shops and learn about the lives of their residents: the fishmonger, the baker, the milkmaid, the cabinetmaker… We’ll also step into a world full of superstitions, spiritualism and traditional healers.

Meeting point: Mercat de Sants (main entrance on Carrer de Sant Jordi – Mercadona)
