Another step forward to connect the tram systems along Av. Diagonal. Work to condition the street and the install the tram infrastructure between Pl. Glòries and C/ Verdaguer is to get under way in the autumn. The tendering process is now on for the first four lots of work to connect and improve the public transport network in the city and the metropolitan area. The extension to the tram system along Av. Diagonal will enable the city centre to connect with the nine municipalities in the metropolitan area, improving the efficiency and interconnectivity of the city’s public transport system.
The tendering of work before the summer complies with the commitment made in the agreement between the City Council and the Metropolitan Transport Authority to speed up the connection of the tram systems.
Dividing the work into four civil engineering lots for this stage helps spread the economic benefits and the risks:

- First development stage in Av. Diagonal: Provides more space for pedestrians, bicycles and greenery.
- Section between Gran Via and Lepant: work to condition the avenue and installation of the tram network.
- Section between Lepant and Nàpols: work to condition the avenue and installation of the tram network.
- Section between Nàpols and Girona: work to condition the avenue and installation of the tram network (between C/ Nàpols and Pg. Sant Joan) plus installation of the tram network (between C/ Nàpols and C/ Girona).
The work will cost 56, 112,778.67 euros and take 21 months.
