Waste separation gets easier with the new website cuidem.barcelona
Thanks to the new search feature on the cuidem.barcelona website it’s easier to know how, where and when to dispose of things. Users simply type in the waste they want to get rid of and give their address. The app then indicates the collection system, recycling method and corresponding time band. The search tool also provides additional information on the type of waste in question and enables users to check the collection calendar for the local area, in other words, the days and times for collecting the waste included in each category, according to their postal address. The app also allows users to check which types of waste belong to the different categories: organic, plastic, glass, paper and cardboard, rubbish, furniture and junk and green points.
It also offers complementary information to help us manage types of waste better, taking into account how we can recycle them and give them a useful second or third life. Similarly, it identifies waste which needs special treatment, such as asbestos, emergency flares or munitions, and at given times will provide information on collection points for specific waste, such as Christmas trees.
Besides the search tool, the new cuidem.barcelona website enables people to report incidents so they can be resolved more swiftly and efficiently. For instance, users can advise if a specific street needs to be cleaned better, if items of furniture have been left in the street or if a full container needs emptying.
Other sections of cuidem.barcelona include the one outlining what’s new with the service, one featuring news and another on the city’s green points. Finally, the section “Your neighbourhood” provides full information for people to take part in sessions by maintenance boards, where local people and those in charge of commercial premises can have their say on designing a specific cleaning plan, adapted to the needs of each neighbourhood.
