The ‘Shutters Up’ call for the purchase of ground-floor premises gets under way
The budget for this initiative is sixteen million euros, which will be invested in purchasing premises with certain characteristics in strategic areas in the city. The call is one of the initiatives in the ‘Shutters Up’ government measure, the plan for recovering and re-launching the city. The call ends on 25 June.
Ciutat Vella is regarded as a priority, and to this end the district has a specific call worth six million euros. The other ten million will be used to acquire premises in other points around Barcelona. Priority will be given to areas with the most empty premises, such as the districts of L’Eixample, Sant Martí, Sants-Montjuïc and Sarrià – Sant Gervasi
The goal is to drive economic activity in ground-floor business premises. The acquisition of premises paves the way for a stock of officially protected properties of this type, to be used to add vitality to commercial, social, cultural and economic activity.
