The Museu Marès hosts Barcelona’s traditional nativity scene again
This year, the traditional-style nativity scene of Barcelona is set in a valley of the Catalan Pyrenees. In this idyllic setting with mountains, valleys and villages, dozens of representative elements of the vegetation, towns, customs, agriculture and livestock of the area are displayed. It means the figures are present in an environment that is relatable and that forms part of the collective imagination.
This time you will be able to see traditional scenes such as the Birth, the Annunciation to the shepherds and the Cavalcade of the Kings of the East, but also other popular scenes and even somewhich are taken from traditional tales. The nativity scene is the work of the Associació de Pessebristes de Barcelona.
The floral decoration of the nativity scene was designed in collaboration with the Casa d’Oficis de l’Espectacle en Viu (live entertainment) of Barcelona Activa, a project which trains young people in the field of entertainment with a specialisation in floral art decoration.
