New organisation and definition of green spaces in 22@
The Full Council has approved the urban plan to regulate and delimit the green corridors for the 22@ area. The regulations set out specific criteria for various areas around them, with pedestrians getting priority, a lane for vehicles and free space, of which 33% must be allocated for pedestrian or green zones.
The new plan centres on the green corridors around the historical centre of Poblenou, setting out the guidelines for urban planning projects for the different sections here.
On the one hand, the plan defines areas with no flexibility, with urban projects already approved or being executed, and on the other, flexible sections of four different types, where planning projects can choose between options in a pre-determined catalogue, combining them according to the needs of each location.
The plan will help unblock the transformation of C/ Badajoz, turning it into a corridor for cyclists and pedestrians, and will affect the work in the streets of Pere IV and Cristóbal de Moura, as well as the whole area of Can Ricart, opening it up to local people.
What will the green corridors be like?
- Central street sections between the fronts of street blocks: strips 4 metres wide where pedestrians get priority, a traffic lane 3.5 metres wide and at least 33% of free space.
- Edges of each section in contact with roads that are not green corridors: strips 4 metres wide where pedestrians get priority, a traffic lane 3.5 metres wide and the rest free space.
- Small squares at the junctions with green corridors: 33% of space for green zones, with a traffic lane 3.5 metres wide.
- Small squares at green corridor junctions with C/ Àvila: additional configuration with a central lane for traffic, ensuring the circulation of public transport but with pedestrian priority maintained.
