The project is headed by the Municipal Institute of Housing and Renovation and the tenants awarded flats are applicants from the Barcelona Register for Officially Protected Housing with social rents. These types of rents mean families who live in the flats will pay rents according to their income, with rents not to exceed 30% of household income under any circumstances.

The useful floor space of the homes ranges from 43 to 74 square metres and they have one, two or three bedrooms. They are all organised around an entrance corridor that has three courtyards that capture light and offer cross ventilation.

The process to award the flats took into account the different types of applicants, who a certain number of homes were reserved for:

  • 30% (15 flats) for the under-35s.
  • 25% (13 flats) for local people from the neighbourhoods of Trinitat Vella, Sant Andreu de Palomar, Trinitat Nova and La Prosperitat.
  • 10% (5 flats), for single-parent families.
  • 3 homes adapted for people with reduced mobility.
  • The rest of the flats were awarded to applicants on the general waiting list.

The Porta Trinitat block also includes 85 homes with services for the elderly, which were given to tenants in February and have independent spaces and entrances. In all, the project involved an investment of 18 million euros.
