Joan Roca’s retirement brings to an end a chapter which saw the researcher not only head the MUHBA, but take part in the spheres of urban history, urban planning and education, receiving accolades such as the Pau Vila, Barcelona City and Bonaplata awards. Roca is a member of the international board of the European Urban History Association and creator of the City History Museums and Research Network of Europe.

The new director, García Hermosilla, has been in charge of the Museu del Ter for twenty years, a leading facility that has become a social and regional museum working in the fields of research, conservation, education, cultural action and the dissemination of the values of the River Ter water basin. During his office, the centre has established ties with other museums, associations and local study and education centres around Catalonia and beyond.
