Tech & Play, the tech festival for everybody
Tech & Play is an initiative being organised by Mobile World Capital from 17 to 19 March as the first tech festival for everybody, offering the public the tech experiences and advances from the latest edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The goal of the festival is to humanise technology and for everybody to access it in a simple, recreational and educational way.The Teatre Lliure in Montjuïc will be offering thirty free activities for young and old to see and touch the latest tech, and most of all, experiment with it.
The activities in the programme include six talks and lectures from experts in technology and digital innovation; Feel the Technology, a circuit for all five senses, enabling people to discover the latest trends in the digital world; an exhibition of Barcelona-inspired artwork with pieces in digital format, thanks to the Moool art gallery; the Plantivers, where visitors can converse with the interactive plants Herbie and Mentie, and ZOOHHH!, a holographic zoo with a volumetric screen where youngsters can interact with four animals from Barcelona Zoo.
There will also be influential figures from the world of tech and digitalisation, such as the hacking and tech security expert Chema Alonso; the journalist and streamer Gerard Romero; the video game streamer Becky Srta. Hoot Hoot, and Neil Harbisson, the first person to live with an antenna on their head and be officially recognised as a cyborg. All this comes with shows to liven up the day.
Sunday is Family Day, specifically aimed at children, where participants can enjoy activities designed especially for them which foster digital skills and abilities through play-based activities.
Tech & Play is an initiative by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, backed by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, along with the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council, with the support of CaixaBank, Damm and Vodafone.
