New campaign to prevent infestations

Produced in collaboration with the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB) as part of the Pla Endreça, the new public awareness campaign aims to make people more aware of the main factors that cause infestations and how they can help reduce the risk of proliferation of different species such as rodents, cockroaches and mosquitos.

Various posters have been distributed to public facilities, open-air spaces and other places in the city. The campaign will also run in a digital format on the social media of both institutions. Besides prevention messages, materials include a QR code for access to more promotional material.

The Urban Infestation Surveillance and Control Service (SVIPLA) at the ASPB works proactively in public streets, squares and green areas, as well as the sewerage network and in other public places such as plots of land, markets and municipal buildings in the city. It also handles and acts on notifications from members of the public relating to the presence of species in public space. Each intervention involves an action and follow-up plan until the incident is resolved.

Collaboration from the general public is a key prevention factor for infestations in the city and helps to control them. In this regard, dissemination and communication are areas the ASPB works on. This citywide campaign is aimed at raising public awareness and driving a change in the perception of infestations, informing people about risks and prevention measures, along with the channels available for members of the public to report the presence of infestations in public spaces.
