New funeral parlours: small or medium in size and closer to cemeteries
The Full Council has approved the new urban plan regulating the implementation or enlargement of funeral parlours. The goal is to minimise the impact on local people’s daily lives.
New funeral homes will have to meet the following conditions:
- Located a 10-minute walk from a cemetery.
- Have at least two wake rooms, an on-street entrance 12 metres wide and a pavement at least 2,40 metres wide.
- Always located on land designated for facilities (except on metropolitan land or sites designated for housing with services) and in buildings exclusively for this use.
- Minimum surface area of 800 square metres and maximum built floor space of 1,600 square metres.
- Minimum distance of 300 metres between two funeral parlours.
Locating funeral homes near cemeteries, located at access roads to the city, helps reduce the volume of vehicles on city streets.
