The call is open to organisations with programmes, projects and activities for the protection and defence of animals in the city. Each entity can apply for subsidies for a maximum of three initiatives to be carried out in 2021. The call comes in addition to the specific subsidies for the control and management of feral cat colonies in Barcelona.

The criteria to be taken into account are:

• promotion of the animal world and the protection of biodiversity
• promotion of animal adoption and responsible ownership
• inclusion of the gender perspective
• social and environmental benefits, project monitoring indicators etc.

The application period will be open for twenty working days from the day after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona (BOPB), which is due next week.

In 2020, these subsidies by Barcelona City Council involved the same sum of 50,000 euros and provided support for 27 projects by different organisations.
