The new nursery school is to be built on the municipal plot at C/ Arenys, 83, a site with an area of 1,985 square metres in the neighbourhood of La Teixonera. The final project has already been defined and work will be tendered in the first week of July. The project involves a municipal investment of 3.5 million euros.

In terms of outdoor spaces, the new nursery will include a terrace of 165 square metres on the first floor and a playground of 250 square metres on the ground floor, with trees. Both spaces will face south.

Municipal nursery school network

Barcelona currently has 102 municipal nursery schools. The next academic year will see that figure rise to 103 with the addition of the new Els Gats school, in C/ Roger, in the Sants-Badal neighbourhood in the district of Sants-Montjuïc.

The ongoing expansion of the municipal nursery school network is a major challenge. To this end, more centres will be added in areas short of places, meaning the network will have at least 115 centres in 2024 and offer a total of 9,500 nursery places, around a thousand more than at present.
