More thrills at Tibidabo as the rollercoaster takes virtual reality on board
During a two-minute ride at speeds of up to 80 km/h, visitors boarding the rollercoaster at the Tibidabo Amusement Park will have an immersive experience allowing them to take part in a fantasy adventure as they travel through different spaces ranging from a space station to the sea floor. The addition of immersive technology to this ride coincides with the park’s fifteenth anniversary. The ride will keep the same capacity and the usual conditions of use, with 16 people per carriage and passengers to be at least 120 cm tall. People will still be able to enjoy the ride without the VR option if they prefer.
The rollercoaster is the second ride at Tibidabo to use immersive technology to recreate a new experience. The Virtual Express was inaugurated in 2017, turning a classic speed ride into the first virtual reality ride in Catalonia.
The content for the new virtual reality experience was created exclusively for the Tibidabo Amusement Park by VR Coaster, a German company specialising in virtual reality.
