Mobility and transport disruptions due to the Salomon Run at Montjuïc

This Sunday 14 April there will be a new edition of the Salomon Run. Between 7 am and 12 noon some roads in the Parc de Montjuïc will be closed to traffic.

There will in fact be two races, a 5k and a 10k, on a circuit around Montjuïc that combines paved areas near the starting line and the streets that border the Olympic Ring, taking in steps, dirt tracks and wooded areas of the mountain. Furthermore, there will also be the Salomon Run Vertical, a competitive timed race that consists of climbing the steps up to the Magic Fountain in the fastest possible way.

The Plaça Josep Puig i Cadafalch is both the start and the finish line for the two circuits, as well as the nerve centre of the Salomon Run, and the place where from Saturday at 10 am on, the race bibs will be handed out. The 5k race starts on Sunday at 9 am and the 10k starts at 9.30 am and 9.40 am. The routes are as follows:
The first section: after climbing the waterfall steps on the Llobregat side until reaching the Palau Nacional, turning right towards the Mirador del Palau, down to Passeig Jean Forestier, up to Avda. Montanyans, steps, dirt track, up Avda. Estadi (the mountain side of the street).
5K Route: start-finish connection by Passeig Minici Natal.
10K Route: dirt track, down Avda. Estadi (sea side of the street), Passeig Minici Natal as far as Plaça Nemesi Ponsati and back as far as Plaça Europa, exiting the Olympic Ring and running down Avda. Estadi, C/ Jocs del 92 (Besòs side of the street), Pierre de Coubertin (roadway), 180⁰ at the gate 6 entrance to the Palau Sant Jordi, bordering the Camp Municipal de Beisbol Carlos Pérez de Rozas, parallel and overhead road on the pavement of C/ Jocs del 92 (zig zag out and back), C/ Foc (mountain side of the street), Passeig Olímpic (mountain side of the street), L’Olivera access road.
Final Section: Avda. Estadi, Avda. Montanyans, running downhill as far as the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya, interior road to Passeig Santa Madrona (sea side of the street), Passeig Santa Madrona, Passeig Jean Forestier and down the Besòs waterfall steps to Plaça Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

Traffic closures and key diversions

The following streets will be closed to traffic between 7 am and 12 noon on Sunday 14 April:

  • Avda. Santa Madrona (Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya side), between C/ Guàrdia Urbana C/ Lleida.
  • C/ Lleida (Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya parking area, above Passeig Santa Madrona).
  • Avda. Montanyans, on the Besòs side from the Palau Nacional (both sides), from the Mirador del Palau to the back of the Palau Nacional.
  • Avda. Montanyans, the back of the Palau Nacional (on the mountain side).
  • Avda. Montanyans, the Llobregat side of the Palau Nacional (staggered parking spaces).
  • Palau Nacional viewpoint (both sides).
  • Camí de la Foixarda, from the entrance to the Poble Espanyol as far as the restaurant La Foixarda (both sides).
  • Torre Calatrava parking area.
  • C. Pedrera del Mussol, at the two entrances to C/ Pierre de Coubertin (on the Llobregat side).
  • Plaça Olivera access road (both sides).
  • Parking area between the entrance to Plaça Olivera and the Palau de Sant Jordi.
  • Area of staggered parking spaces located between Passeig Olímpic and C/ Pierre de Coubertin.

Avda. Montanyans will be closed to traffic from Passeig Santa Madrona and from the Llobregat side of the Palau Nacional viewpoint. Camí de la Foixarda will be closed to traffic from C/ Foixarda.

Vehicles heading down Avda. Estadi will be diverted along C/ Jocs del 92. Traffic heading uphill on Jocs del 92 will be diverted along Avda. Estadi on the side that runs uphill. Vehicles circulating on Avda. Estadi will be diverted along Passeig Olímpic. C/ Pierre de Coubertin will be closed to traffic from Jocs del 92, and from Passeig Olímpic.

Bus lines 13, 55, 125, 150 and the Barcelona Bus Turístic red route will either be limited or diverted from their usual routes. To get to the race start area by public transport, we recommend getting off the Metro at Espanya station (L1/L3), or alternatively to use bus lines D20, H12, H16, 46, 55, 65, 79, 109 or 150.
