Over 9,000 students from 240 schools take part in Esport i Dansa Ara
The Palau Sant Jordi was once again the scene for a new edition of the programme Esport i Dansa Ara, an initiative to promote contemporary and sports dance among second-year primary students around municipal schools. The performances presented by the pupils today at the Palau are the result of a programme for knowledge and expressive and rhythmic practice in two forms of dance, contemporary and sports, carried out in schools in the months before this big gathering. In all, 9,394 second-year primary students and 1,073 teachers from 240 municipal schools took part.
Esport i Dansa Ara is a consolidated initiative in the education plans of schools in Barcelona, stimulating physical activity, creativity and teamwork among young children while promoting dance as a form of expression. This year’s edition focused on messages about being careful with water and looking after the planet. The event also featured a performance by dancers from the Dance Conservatory at the Institute of Theatre and the Factoria Mascaró company.
