Mària Sánchez Ledesma was a personal and journalistic role-model for people in this profession and for all those who worked with her during her 35-year career with RTVE Catalunya.

She had been covering municipal information in Barcelona since January 2000. In all she covered current affairs during the terms of office for five different mayors, gaining the respect and admiration of City Council representatives. She stands out for championing quality information and public service in the profession, for her empathy and generosity towards others and for always focusing on the social sphere, the neighbourhoods and people.

In 1996 she headed the team for El escarabajo verde, a programme ahead of its time which was devoted to ecology and the environment, and which received various awards and the support of audiences for nearly 450 episodes.
