Municipal ownership beckons for La Miranda, the social facility in the neighbourhood of La Salut

The Full Council has approved the urban plan that will enable the facility to be expropriated and pass into municipal hands, maintaining the role it has had for the last twenty years. The centre will be acquired with funds raised from managing Park Güell.

The special urban plan defines the facility as being for cultural uses, establishes its public ownership and justifies its expropriation in the public interest, a preliminary step needed for the purchase to go ahead.

La Miranda is a private association with a public service vocation, its main goals being to foster personal interaction, creativity and community among local people in the neighbourhood of La Salut.

The association has been carrying out its activity since 2002 on these private premises, a site of 455 square metres which it rents. The drop in income as a result of the pandemic put the activity of the centre at risk. With its acquisition, the District of Gràcia will be able to grant the management to the organisation so that it can continue with its activity from the last two decades.

The purchase of the property, located in Av. Coll del Portell, is one of the measures to foster culture set out in the Park Güell Strategic Plan 2023-2026.
