Five children’s play areas to be renewed in Ciutat Vella
The upgrade includes the addition of new play elements, more rest areas and vegetation. The project includes the areas in Plaça de les Caramelles, Plaça de Vicenç Martorell, Placeta de Martina Castells and the space in Carrer de l'Arc del Teatre, in the neighbourhood of El Raval, and the Jardins del Pou de la Figuera, in the neighbourhood of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera.The play areas in the Raval neighbourhood will get accessible and inclusive elements which are non-sexist and provide options for children of all ages. The three sets of works in the neighbourhood correspond to projects chosen by members of the public during the participatory budgets.
A badminton net will be set up in Carrer de l’Arc del Teatre, available by the hour.
The play area in the Jardins del Pou de la Figuera will be revamped and connections with the surroundings improved, with paving replaced by granite sand, rubber around the play elements and concrete in the space around the table-tennis table. The play area will also have a sand pit.
Urban furniture will also be replaced, a drinking fountain added and improvements made to lighting and watering systems.
Work is expected to start at the end of the year.
