First municipal works to use 100% electric machinery
The remodelling project for the Jardin de les Tres Xemeneies, in the Poble-sec neighbourhood, represents a step forward in energy efficiency and reducing pollution linked to public works in urban spaces. The project will break down architectural barriers and add vitality to this space. The goal is to avoid hidden spaces, make it easier for users to pass through the gardens, promote community uses and connect the adjacent neighbourhoods.
Once the work is completed, the open space in the gardens will have a new basketball court, a sports circuit and a bar next to the children’s play area.
There is still no date for executing the definitive transformation.
Commitment to the use of electric machinery
The work in the Jardins de les Tres Xemeneies will allow for data on energy consumption, emissions, noise and the impact of heat resulting from the use of machinery to be compared to the usual data generated for conventional diesel machinery.
The conclusions of the pilot project conducted on a private project in 2022 were:
- Energy consumption reduced to a seventh.
- Energy costs reduced to a sixth.
- CO₂ emissions reduced to a third.
- Related noise halved.
- The efficiency of electric machinery is similar to conventional machinery.
The goal is for municipal works to use 50% zero emissions machinery by 2030.
