New areas to let dogs off their leads
Shared use zones (ZUC) are located in 109 streets, squares and parks around the city’s 73 neighbourhoods, where owners can let dogs off their leads to play, interact and engage in physical activity. To ensure coexistence and proper usage, users must respect the rules, pick up dog dirt and water down spots where their dogs urinate.
The addition of the shared use zones brings number of dog areas 225, offering almost 900,000 square metres of space in all:
- 70 dog areas: up to 400 m2.
- 46 dog recreation areas: half of these offer spaces of more than 700 m2.
- 109 new shared use zones (ZUC).
During the bathing season, the Llevant beach also offers a dog area, which gained 20% more space this year, growing to 1,500 square metres.
