The competition to manage the cultural venue of El Molino has been resolved, with Barcelona Events Musicals announced as the winning bidders. The organisers of the Festival Cruïlla will start running this iconic Barcelona venue as from 1 November, opening a new chapter with top artists from the world of jazz, blues, soul and folk taking centre stage.

The agreement to run El Molino will last four years, with an option to extend that period if both parties wish and with the approval of other leading cultural organisations such as Barnasants, the Fundació Barcelona Music Lab, the Fundació del Conservatori del Liceu, the Escola de Mtijans Audiovisuals, the ESMUC, Paral·lel 62 and the World Cities Culture Forum.

The reopening of the theatre provides a new boost for the artistic scene in and around Av. Paral·lel, which regained the activity of Paral·lel 62 (formerly the Sala Barts) and will continue with the renovation of the Teatre Arnau, due for the first quarter of 2025.

New chapter for El Molino

With its bohemian, plural and transgressive spirit in mind, El Molino embarks on a new chapter in October with the idea of becoming a venue of recognised global prestige, a space for intimate concerts where top international musicians coexist with local artists.

The theatre will also offer a new array of quality food and cocktails to complement its programme.

The inauguration of the venue is on 27 October, with the regular programme to start on 1 November. Initially, the theatre is set to open from Wednesdays to Sundays, with two set shifts: from 8 pm to 9.30 pm and from 10 pm to 11.45 pm.
