The main restrictions will be in the city centre between 5 pm and 9.30 pm. The districts affected the most will be Ciutat Vella, L’Eixample and Sants-Montjuïc. Parking restrictions have been in place in some areas since 3 January, and as from 4 pm today vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes will not be allowed to circulate in the city, except for public service vehicles.

Traffic restrictions will also affect several bus services. Specifically, the services affected in the afternoon are: D20, D50, H12, H14, H16, V9, V11, V13, V15, V17, V19, 13, 19, 21, 23, 46, 47, 52, 55, 59, 65, 7, 9, 1, 109, 120, 121, 141, 150 and 165, as well as the services offered by the Barcelona Bus Turístic.

The Three Kings Parade starts at 6 pm and will take the following route: Passeig de la Circumval·lació – Avinguda del Marquès de l’Argentera – Passeig d’Isabel II – Passeig de Colom – Avinguda del Paral·lel – Ronda de Sant Pau – Carrer d’Urgell – Carrer de Sepúlveda – Avinguda del Paral·lel – Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina – Avinguda de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia.

Metro or walking as the best options

People are recommended to use the metro or go on foot to reach the different points around the procession. The metro network will be operating until 2 am as this is the eve of a public holiday. On Friday the service will be operating until midnight as it is a public holiday.

The nearest stops to the area where traffic restrictions apply are: Espanya (L1/L3), Rocafort (L1), Urgell (L1), Paral·lel (L2), Sant Antoni (L2), Jaume I (L4), Ciutadella / Vila Olímpica (L4) and Barceloneta (L4).

Before leaving home, check the disruptions and recommendations relating to public transport on the websites for TMB and the AMB.

Parking prohibition

City Police officers will be establishing a mobility operation to oversee the corresponding traffic diversions, ensure the progression of the parade and minimise disruptions to traffic. Officers will gradually open up streets once the parade has gone past, depending on the situation of the procession and traffic in general.

The parade also means parking prohibitions at different points around the city, particularly the streets around the route. This includes motorbikes on pavements (except on the side nearest the Besòs in Av. Paral·lel, between C/ Sepúlveda and Pl. Espanya, and Av. Icària, between the streets of Wellington and Ramon Trias Fargas).

At the same time, on 5 January itself, all Bicing stations in the areas affected by the parade will be out of service as from 1 pm, and as from 8 pm parking metres in the following streets will also be out of service:

  • Circumval·lació (side nearest the mountains), between Wellington and Marquès de l’Argentera
  • Icària (side nearest the mountains), between Wellington and Ramon Trias Fargas
