Control and input in the Economy and Tax Commission for March
March’s session by the Economy and Tax Commission debated and voted on various proposals from municipal groups relating to tax, tourism and its impact on the city and adding vitality to commerce.Junts per Barcelona called for tax breaks for families with medium or low incomes, the self-employed and SMEs. The proposal was rejected with the following votes:

- Against: PSC, BComú, ERC
Barcelona en Comú called for the city to declare that it has reached its limit for annual visitors, particularly mass tourism, without putting at risk social cohesion, environmental quality and people’s well-being. The proposal was approved with the following votes:
- In favour: PSC, BComú, ERC
- Against: Junts×BCN, PP, Vox
Esquerra Republicana called for the creation of a fund using the tourist tax to guarantee different measures to improve training, the design of career programmes, advice and support for hotel room cleaners. The proposal was approved with the following votes:
- In favour: Junts×BCN, PSC, BComú, ERC
- Against: PP, Vox
The Partit Popular called for the application of a specific plan to add vitality to commerce in areas affected by long-term works, particularly the Creu Cobert shopping hub and Pl. Espanya, C/ Comte d’Urgell, La Rambla, C/ Balmes and others. The proposal was approved with the following votes:
- In favour: Junts×BCN, ERC, PP, Vox
- Against: PSC, BComú
The proposal from Vox was for the creation and publication of a quarterly report on the revenue raised by the tourist tax in the city and the social and economic return it is used for. The proposal was rejected with the following votes:
- In favour: PP, Vox
- Against: Junts×BCN, PSC, BComú, ERC
