Ecologia Urbana

The “Experience the superblock” festival is the final part of the Barcelona Superblock International Day Events taking place from 22 to 25 March, inviting reflection on the construction of healthier city models.

Our aim, now that we are at the final stretch of our work on green hubs, is to share their results with all our citizens and celebrate together these new spaces being reclaimed by locals residents for more green walking areas and which are facilitating social relations and the local economy.

These are two parallel festivals taking place in two spaces in Eixample’s new green hubs:

  • In C/ Rocafort, between C/ Aragó and C/ Diputació.
  • In C/ Consell de Cent, between C/ Enric Granados and Rambla de Catalunya.

Several activities are going to be held at these points, from 10 am to 7 pm, so local residents can start feeling at home in the new public spaces being created with the work being carried out on the new green hubs: children’s workshops, games made with recycled materials, a chocolate fest and a setting where there will be no shortage of music animation, dances, magic show and entertainment and improvisation shows.

Music processions

In addition, Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya will be collaborating with the music processions, a series of performances at several points along C/ Consell de Cent to make the street more pleasant for city residents keen to go from one party to another on Saturday morning. These music performances will also extend to other points of the city (opposite the Mercat d’Hostafrancs and Mercat de Sant Antoni, the Clariana del Parc de les Glòries, at the junction between Av Meridiana and C/ Aragó, C/ Gran de Sant Andreu and Plaça de Sóller).

The regular Germanetes farmers’ market will also set up around the junction between C/ Consell de Cent and C/ Viladomat, joining in the celebrations with several activities as well.
