The campaign focuses on the correct maintenance of public spaces and will target conduct which entails degradation, with action taken to correct and denounce infringements.

The campaign starts on Tuesday, 12 September, and will be in place around the clock until Sunday, 17 September, paying special attention to the districts of Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc and Gràcia.

The operation comes as part of the Pla Endreça, the plan launched in July to clean up the city with immediate steps relating to cleaning, the maintenance of urban furniture and the control and reduction of anti-social behaviour. The balance published last week shows the intensification of tasks to eliminate graffiti, with work carried out on 39,000 sqaure metres of space. The City Police has also doubled the number of fines given for graffiti, compared to July and August 2022.

The city has special spaces where free artistic expression such as graffiti and murals are allowed, without the need to seek authorisation in advance: the city’s Murs Oberts (Open Walls).
