Application period open for allotments aimed at elderly people and organisations

Barcelona has fifteen municipal allotments around the city’s ten districts, managed by the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens. These allotments are divided into plots of between 20 and 40 m2 which are given to people aged 65 and over and non-profit organisations in the city.

In the case of the elderly, plots will be awarded via a draw. The requisites are to be at least 65 years old during the year the application is made and to have been on the municipal register of residents for at least six months in the district where the allotments in question are located. Only one application per household is permitted.

For non-profit organisations, the plots will be awarded through a competitive process. In this case, the requisites are that they must be legally constituted as a non-profit organisation, be based in the district where the allotments are intended for their users, with a minimum of six users.

This call will allocate 364 plots in all, 265 for elderly people and 98 for organisations. The application period is from 18 March to 16 April 2025.

Stages in the process

On 16 May the provisional list of people and organisations accepted will be published, with a ten-day period for appeals or challenges.

On 5 June the final list of people and organisations accepted will be published and the date for the draw set. The draw will take place in November and the plots awarded in December 2025.
