A modern open-plan design for the station and its surroundings in La Sagrera
Projects are now being drafted to define the architecture, facilities and urban design for the station and its surroundings in La Sagrera. The companies contracted have two years to develop their proposal, the established starting point being a modern open-plan design for the whole area. The facilities and the urban surroundings for the future high-speed rail station in La Sagrera will blend in with the street layout, with a canopy and a park to foster community life.
The projects to be defined in the design will complement the work currently being carried out on the rail infrastructure.
The procurement board, made up of representatives from Adif, the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council and a committee of experts, have now awarded the contract.
The projects will be drafted by the joint venture between Ayesa Enginyeria i Arquitectura, SA, b720 Arquitectura, SLP and Pegi Engineering, SL.
Work is also under way to recondition the streets and areas surrounding the La Sagrera – Marina Clotet library, between Ferran Turné and Camp del Ferro. This work aims to add vitality and reorganise a space which has been heavily affected by the construction work on the future station, with improved mobility for pedestrians and emergency vehicles and the introduction of new areas for people to spend time in, more trees and more urban furniture.
