A large space in the city centre for Sant Jordi’s Day
This year’s Sant Jordi brings a new municipal initiative which acts as literary superblock, opening up a large space free of vehicles and enabling people to enjoy this special day along Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla de Catalunya. The initiative has been agreed on with booksellers’ and florists’ guilds and will use all the space between Gran Via. Av. Diagonal, C/ Pau Claris and C/ Balmes. Within this area, traffic will only be able to circulate along C/ Aragó and C/ València, ensuring mobility. The rest of the space will be exclusively for pedestrian use.
The perimeter will have two main streets, with Passeig de Gràcia reserved for professional booksellers and florists, while Rambla de Catalunya will be set aside for stalls by organisations.
Sant Jordi all around Barcelona
Besides this large space set aside in L’Eixample, booksellers and florists will also have exclusive spaces around different points in the city, such as Plaça de Valdivia, Passeig de Lluís Companys, Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia, Plaça d’Orfila, Plaça de Sarrià, the space at Poblenou-Pallars-Llacuna-Pujades, Plaça Reial, Plaça de la Universitat, Passeig de Sant Joan and Arc de Triomf.
On the eve of Sant Jordi’s Day, florists, booksellers and bakeries will also be able to set up stalls in the street, in front of their establishments.
