226 collection points for Christmas trees
The collection points for Christmas trees and decorative branches are located around the ten districts and will be in operation from 7 to 17 January. The material will be taken to the municipal plant nursery, recycled and used as mulch in the city’s parks and gardens.
The goal is to avoid trees being dumped irresponsibly and to make the most of a natural resource in the most efficient way possible.
Last year saw 10,273 trees recovered and used to make 195 square metres of mulch for green spaces. The process requires two or three months of treatment.
