Wallay!, the Barcelona African Film Festival, this year marking its fourth edition, has found a new tour company. Conceived as a journey to the African continent’s diversity and creativity, Wallay! is joining forces with the city’s big performing arts event, the Barcelona Grec Festival, which this year focuses on Africa.
Conversing, listening, exploring, Wallay! and Grec will be merged at times, opening the door to African voices and expressions from various artistic disciplines, and in an especially melodic edition. From urban Kinshasa performance to the forbidden words of Equatorial Guinea, the Grec and Wallay! will be journeying more than ever between continents, in search of the African roots of the tango and flamenco, and to discover the Afro-Cuban sounds of Mali.
The sessions will be held at the Filmoteca de Catalunya (from 17 to 26 June), at the Institut Français (from 28 June to 2 July) and at CaixaForum (4 July).
