Walking next to our shoes... intoxicated by strawberries and cream... we enter continents without knocking… What on earth is this? Nothing less than a show featuring dance, theatre and music by a South African choreographer who now lives in Europe, performed by an opera singer, two dancers, a “swanker” and a Zulu choir of ten singers. As for the title of the show, in Zulu, “walking next to our shoes” means “to be poor”. The perfectly synchronised singing and dancing are so fascinating that, for a time, you will not realise that the themes here are war, illness and poverty.  Seduction and irritation are amongst the weapons used in this show, with its lavish, colourful costumes, humour, poetry and tenderness.
