A festival of sweet soul music from the US of A, loaded with references to the all-time classics and packed with rhythm, a show that makes music more than just an experience for the ears. That's what you get when you see this American band live.
In 2012, as they left the recording studio where they had just started a new musical project, vocalist Paul Janeway and bass player Jesse Phillips realised that they were cooking up something special. The two musicians from Birmingham (Alabama) had just assembled a retro soul band whose line-up would include Browan Lollar, Andrew Lee, Ben Griner and Allen Branstetter. The fusion of all these talents produced explosive results, featuring strings, horns, percussion and the spectacular voice and stage moves of the band’s frontman, a blue-eyed soul singer by the name of Janeway, known to his fans as St. Paul. The EPs Greetings from St. Paul and The Broken Bones and St. Paul & The Broken Bones. Live and in Person were just a teaser for what was to come: Half the City. The twelve tracks on the group’s debut album, a worldwide hit, are rich in the very essence of vintage gospel and soul, the soundtrack that the band members grew up with. Their show in Barcelona will present their latest effort, an album released in spring this year, delicate melodies that become pure energy when performed live.
