Gairebé amb la mateixa edat que el Grec Festival de Barcelona, l'orquestra dedicada a la música de ball més popular del país continua celebrant el seu quarantè aniversari. Estrenen posada en escena, però tenen les mateixes ganes de festa.
Did you know that the Orquestra Plateria originally formed to play for just one night, New Year’s Eve 1974, at the legendary Sala Zeleste? The musicians Jaume Sisa, Gato Pérez and Albert Batiste had the idea of forming the band, little thinking that it would enjoy such a long life or provide the soundtrack to a period when darkness was left behind and all was invaded by a joie de vivre inspired by the new freedom. Blazing a trail for a new generation of dance bands, “La Plateria” recreated, with humour and great delight, the musical repertoire of our grandparents (from Machín to Carosone, not forgetting Pérez Prado) as well as popularising countless numbers, which became anthems for the new times: Ligia Elena, Corazón loco and La rumba de Barcelona to name but three. You can hear them all again at a performance to launch the Grec 2016 Festival of Barcelona. Not only that but, under the artistic direction of the critic and programmer Albert Puig, the band will present a new show with a set containing many references to Pedro Navaja, one of their most iconic tunes. Moreover, an exhibition reviewing four decades of popular music gives us all more than sufficient reason to party at the Festival of Barcelona to the sounds of a band that forms part of the living history of Catalan music.
