After filling the Teatre Grec in 2015, this show returns to the festival for the third year running, this time round devoted to swing and revolving around a story written and directed by Paco Mir.
Barcelona audiences love their musicals, as we can see from the exceptional success that this “Musical Night” or Nit de musicals has enjoyed since it was first programmed in 2014. Once more this year, this stand-out event in Barcelona’s summer celebration of the performing arts has its own style, forged on this occasion by Paco Mir. A theatre artiste famed particularly for his work with Tricicle, Mir also enjoys a successful solo career and in recent editions of the Grec has directed such plays as El sopar dels idiotes (1998) and La banqueta (2013). Teatralnet magazine organises an evening of song and dance that cannot fail to thrill audiences, with a repertoire of well-known pieces from American musicals like Gypsy, Guys and Dolls and Kiss me Kate, amongst others. The music will be provided by a big band, the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra, accompanied by a superb selection of vocalists, whilst a dance troupe has been especially assembled for the show. A night of theatre and music, with all the swing that Broadway can provide.
