M.U.R.S.

Evoking the theme of the besieged population, La Fura presents M.U.R.S., a civic experiment, an installation-cum-show that invites the audience to interact with it just by following criteria of intelligence and efficiency. The theatre company aim to make M.U.R.S. the first “smartshow” in history, a collective challenge that will transport spectators to a future world in which cities are exploited down to the ultimate consequences. In such circumstances, to what extent will we be free and able to decide for ourselves, to understand our own lives? Will we be able to distinguish the truth from lies? Will we be able to rebel and free ourselves from the sieges of all kinds (communications, technological, political, etc.) that may hound us?

Advised by two prestigious university centres, the Open Systems Department of the University of Barcelona and Rovira i Virgili University, the members of La Fura dels Baus worked for several months at the Ars Electronica Futurelab in Linz (Austria) and at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop the groundwork for the “smartshow” used to construct M.U.R.S.
