La Shica’s entry into the music scene has been a great success. The singer was already filling concert halls, but the release of her first album (Trabajito de chinos, 2008) really confirmed her star status. In just three years, she has found a place in the hearts of music fans and critics alike. As a young girl, Elsa Rovayo, La Shica, wanted to be a dancer. That’s why she left Ceuta for Madrid. A few years later, however, she hung up her dancing shoes and started singing. Her music is a fusion of two genres, flamenco and hip hop, but her style also harmoniously combines two apparently very different, closed worlds. That is La Shica’s own personal triumph.
